Operation Hardwood

OPERATION HARDWOOD 2026

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) affects millions of people worldwide, including military veterans, first responders, survivors of violence, and individuals exposed to traumatic events. While evidence-based treatments such as psychotherapy and medication remain central to PTSD care, complementary activities that promote emotional regulation, purpose, and social connection can significantly enhance recovery. COMBAT WARRIORS INC provides these avenues of PTSD recovery by providing outdoor experiences; however, NOW, COMBAT WARRIORS INC is providing Woodworking as a promising therapeutic activity to support mental health and resilience among veterans living with PTSD.

Key Benefits of Woodworking for PTSD:

1. Reduces Stress and Anxiety

2. Encourages Mindfulness and Present-Moment Awareness

3. Builds Confidence and Self-Efficacy

4. Provides Healthy Emotional Expression

5. Fosters Routine and Structure

6. Strengthens Social Connection

On June 20th, COMBAT WARRIORS INC introduced the woodworking pathway to combat PTSD to four combat veterans. A social connection was formed amongst the individuals coming from similar military backgrounds and sharing a delicious breakfast from Abby’s Empanadas and an incredible lunch from Bud Wiser’s BBQ. The four Warriors spent the day learning woodworking techniques, maintenance of equipment, and creating a personalized cutting board in recognition of their accomplishment. Special thanks to Josh @ DOL Creations for providing the materials, equipment, and the know-how and Andy @ RUHL for using his facility.
