Thank you for the opportunity to hunt and fish with Combat Warriors. The experiences I have had with you and the guys from Oregon Inlet and the Great Ditch have been first class. I love the outdoors and have always enjoyed being out fishing and hunting with good people. The ocean fishing and duck hunting have given me the opportunity to once again enjoy activities I have always loved that had taken a back seat to my military career. I was quite angry with my military career ending and recovering from some very severe wounds, and participating in events with Combat Warriors has been a big part of my recovery and therapy. As you know I can’t hit a flying duck to save my life, but the time spent with good people in a duck blind and in the lodge is the real therapy. All activities and people with your group have been great and special care has been taken to accommodate every warrior’s needs and limitations to ensure they receive first class treatment and a great adventure.

For me, I am very proud to have had the opportunity to get to know you and all of the warriors. Your organization has given me a chance to relax, and refresh my mind and body while getting back to activities that I never thought I would be able to experience again. I have made lifelong friends and look forward to participating and helping with future events.

I was fortunate enough to participate in the annual Hyde Co. Great Ditch Road Duck Hunt for two years. I took away experiences, memories and friendships that I forged on these hunts that I will always value. The organizers and sponsors that come out to honor the Combat Warriors are truly great Americans who unselfishly give their time and effort to put on a great hunt. U.S. Service members are incredibly fortunate that there are organizations like Combat Warriors that exist to honor and show gratitude for the sacrifices they made.

The event consisted of four awesome duck hunts with first class guides in an area of North Carolina located right next to a wildlife refuge where we had the opportunity to bag our limit of ducks each day we went out. The accommodations and food were all provided by Bill Warren and the members of the Great Ditch Road Hunt Club, as well as other great patriots who contributed their time and efforts.

Participating in any of the hunting or fishing adventures hosted by Combat Warriors is an opportunity no one should pass up.

For the short time I’ve been with the program I couldn’t ask for anything more. Everyone that works for the program and all the volunteers are great people who really care about us soldiers and it is much appreciated!

One way to describe the combat warrior hunt is, absolutely AMAZING! Hands down the most fun I’ve ever had on a single hunt in my life. I participated in the deer hunt this year, in December which was awesome, we never wanted or needed for everything, and they really put us on the deer, after my deer was harvested they had it processed for me for free, and to top that off Mr. Bill personally drove the meat all the way to Jacksonville, NC and dropped it off to us combat warriors, a two and a half hour drive. These ladies and gentlemen are 100% top notch folks who really support our warriors. If there were more people like this the world would be a lot better place. The second hunt I went on was the duck hunt this year, and was incredible. Everyone got ducks, even banded ducks which are few and far between. I saw ducks I’ve never even seen before and I’ve been hunting ducks for 15 years. The camaraderie was so enjoyable, and there was so much gear issued to the warriors to keep after the hunt, waders, shells, duck calls, you name it, it was supplied. Not to mention we ate like kings. This is a great thing that’s going on here and I hope and pray it continues. There’s no way I could remember everyone’s name, but I really, really want to thank everyone that made this possible, thank you for all the land we hunted on and the facilities used. And thanks for making people’s dreams come true.

I was lucky enough to be invited to participate in the 2015 East Texas Deer Hunt. I would like to start off by saying that from the minute we hit the ground in Shreveport, to the time we were dropped off at the airport to leave, we were welcomed with open arms by all of the volunteers. There was not a minute that went by that I did not know what was happening, or what was going to happen. It was well planned and executed from top to bottom. The local communities all poured out their support of the participants involved, and it was truly a moving and heartwarming experience. I can’t say enough about the East Texas community and their support of the military.

Next I would like to talk about the local law enforcement officers that gave their time to help support the event. These gentlemen were absolute professionals that made us feel right at home and were extremely helpful in all aspects of the event. From the ride in, to getting our hunting licenses, to the Wardens that guided us on our hunts... exceptional!

The hunt itself was almost secondary to the hospitality we received from the local landowners and Mr. Satterwhite. The lodging and food were unbelievable, as well as the culminating event that ended with the auction. An event that truly made me proud to be part of the occasion. But I have to say that the hunting was extraordinary. Excellent management practices in your area produced some of the finest specimens of deer I have ever seen in one location. I will not soon forget the deer I was lucky enough to harvest on Mr. Mickey Smith’s property.

My last bit of recognition has to go out to the nice ladies that came in each morning and cooked us a wonderful breakfast. There is nothing that made the mornings pass so well as a belly full of biscuits and gravy. To the men that volunteered their time to process all of the animals taken, thank you. Your work did not go unnoticed. To the excellent taxidermy services that were provided, I know deer season is your busiest time of year, but yet you pitched in and helped us out... thank you.

If anyone to be invited to one of these hunts were to ask me what I thought, I would say go go go! This hunt is a once in a lifetime opportunity... clear your schedule.

Once again I owe a tremendous thanks to you, Combat Warriors, and all the landowners, volunteers and sponsors for a spectacular weekend of duck hunting and camaraderie. I stumbled into the duck hunt last year by chance invite and didn’t know what I was getting into or how disappointed I was going to be for not being able to stay for the whole weekend. Since then, I have been humbled to participate in other Combat Warriors events.

The Twin Oaks Turkey Hunt allowed me to truly experience and appreciate the fellowship that comes with every Combat Warriors event. The time shared with fellow combat veterans and the great Americans that make these events possible is a true blessing.

The Harkers Island Old Drum Fishing outing was a fantastic opportunity to have my son with me and watch him hook up with a large drum. I missed the opportunity to do those types of things with him over twenty years of service. We enjoyed the time immensely and view everyone involved with Combat Warriors as extended family (that you want to spend time with).

I had been looking forward to the 2016 Duck Hunt all year and it surpassed my excited anticipation. I was able to enjoy reconnecting with the Combat Warrior family, bring longtime friends from the Marine Corps, and introduce them to the Combat Warriors family.

I truly hope everyone involved in Combat Warriors understands how much you’re appreciated and how humbling it is to be provided these opportunities. Big thanks to all!
